In Memorium: Lois Laura Martha Rohde
This past week my grandmother passed away after a long battle with lung cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. A loving mother of seven, grandmother of fourteen, and great-grandmother of nine she will be dearly missed.

Lois Laura Martha Rohde
Lois Laura Martha Rohde, 77, of 1208C Reed St., Plymouth; passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 3, 2006 after a short stay at Countryside Manor in Sheboygan following a courageous battle with lung cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born at home on February 8, 1928 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Frederick and Agnes (Bitter) Augustine. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from North High School with the class of 1945.
On March 16, 1946 she married Richard Rohde at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Together they had eight children. Lois always felt that her most important purpose in life was to raise her family and she considered it her greatest accomplishment. Lois retired from the Sheboygan School System in 1990, where she worked as a custodian at Farnsworth Middle School and South High School. Prior to working for the Sheboygan School System, Lois worked for KW Muth Company and various Sheboygan restaurants over the years.
Lois was a gentle soul who treated everyone she met with kindness. She loved books and instilled in her children a great love for reading. Lois enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing scrabble with her family. Lois loved dogs and always had one as a companion. She took great pleasure in walking her faithful dog, and in her later years her kitty, Sweetie. Lois attended Salem UCC church in Plymouth and took great comfort in Sunday worship services.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Bruce Rohde of Sheboygan; Howard (Susan) Rohde of Sheboygan; David (Patty) Rohde of Conway, Arkansas; Michael (Eilene) Rohde of Elkhart Lake; four daughters and four sons-in-law, Judy (Dave) Heinzen of Dadeville, Alabama; Joyce (Tal) Teboe of Sheboygan; Janice (Steven) Koepsell of Plymouth; Jeanne (Dave) Braatz of Sheboygan; 14 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Scott (Amanda) Heinzen of Wetumpka, Alabama; Donald Heinzen of Goose Creek, South Carolina; Jon (Tanya) Rohde of Sheboygan; Matthew (Patty) Rohde of Sheboygan; Marc (Jenny) Rohde of Sheboygan; Sara Rohde of Sheboygan; Aharon Rohde of Sheboygan; Joshua Koepsell of Plymouth; Amanda Rohde of Sheboygan; Jacob Koepsell of Plymouth; Trevor Braatz of Sheboygan; Tony Dunaj of Waupun; Ronnie Dunaj of Sheboygan; Debbie Deals of Findlay, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, Courtney Dunaj, Conway, Arkansas; Ashley Rohde, Sheboygan; Dylon Dunaj, Conway, Arkansas; Abbey Heinzen, Wetumpka, Alabama; Ethan Rohde, Sheboygan; Andrew Heinzen, Wetumpka, Alabama; Isabella Rohde, Sheboygan; Cody Earls, Findlay, Ohio; Branden Earls, Findlay, Ohio. Lois is also survived by two sisters, Verna (Eugene) Openeer, Oostburg; Doris Thiel (Sheboygan), and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her family, Lois is survived by her very good friends and neighbors, Sally Biskobing and Helen Vogel of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frederick (Fritz) Augustine and a brother-in-law, Norbert Thiel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. James Hoppert, Pastor of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth, will officiate and burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan. Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening and on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
A memorial fund is being established in Lois’s name. The Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Plymouth is serving the family.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Philip DeTrana, Dr. Warren Brauer, St. Nicholas Hospice and the caregivers at Countryside Manor for the love and care shown to Mom.
