A recent Brownsville Herald article provides some hope that for alternative energy with the first home in a planned development that has a wind turbine. The development will encourage home owners to install wind generators, solar panels, and other alternative fuel sources.
All homes will be grid connected with “reverse meters” to the excess energy will be returned to the grid when not in use and home owners to continue using power when their alternative energy sources are not producing enough energy to power their homes.
While I cannot imagine that this is the first development of its kind it will be interesting to monitor the success of this development as a model for the future.
